We get asked about detoxification side-effects often. Whether you might be embarking on a Metabolic Cleanse or Cleanse biofilms, you might experience some short, but not-so-pleasant side effects. This is not unusual, but might make our patients worried if they do not know just what they might feel during the procedure.

Metabolic cleanses

These are designed to get your system running optimally. They include active ingredients to help heal the liver and pancreas and to receive bile and toxins going in the right direction (well, technically, the bile begins doing its job correctly again, and the toxins are permanently evicted from the body).

Biofilms, in short, are gelatinous, protective coverings which are manufactured by pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, yeasts as well as parasites and parasites, in order for them to successfully thwart the efficacy of medications and supplementation intended to destroy them. Fairly nifty example of evolution at work, although, not much fun for their human hosts! In patients where low-grade pathogenic infections are preventing health we attempt to dissolve these sheets so as to better combat the pathogens themselves.

Keep in mind

It’s extremely hard for nutritional supplements, and even prescription antivirals and antibiotics, to be completely effective against these nasties till their protective coverings are dissolved. Enter stage right: Monolaurin (we recommend Lauricidin brand within our clinic ), which is a proteolytic enzyme which helps break down these pictures, and Serrapeptase, a derivative harvested from silkworms (we know, crazy things, right?) !

Obviously, the pathogens which have found their way into human bodies actually enjoy their lodging, they do not need to be evicted or murdered. They’ll put up a fight! They will eventually die off as the drugs and nutritional supplements we take begin to work and as these pathogen die they release toxins that the body must filter. These aren’t always simple processes for the people involved. Although, we know from years in training and much scholarly evidence, they’ll feel exponentially better after the procedure is complete. It’s just the getting through it a part which could be somewhat uncomfortable, whilst wellness remains the ultimate aim.

Side effects

Common side-effects from Metabolic cleanses and biofilm dissolution can include: fatigue, mild swelling, stomach upset (gas, bloating, diarrhea), aches and pains in the joints, rashes and sometimes hives, in addition to brain fog and mild stress (generally caused by the”not knowing” and the general feeling of being unwell, if only temporary).

If you’re having any combination of these side-effects, please know they’re totally normal and nothing to be concerned about. We know they are uncomfortable but they are short lived. They are normally only noticeable for the first 24 to 72 hours and will subside thereafter. Our guidance is as follows: Get lots of rest. Sleep is essential if our immune system is fighting something or not. It’s that much more significant when we aren’t feeling our best.

Our bodies regenerate and do their best immune function in the rest. During detoxification be sure that you are getting at least 8 hours of sleep each night.

What to do?

Drink a lot of water. You need to keep well hydrated and your system flushed. This will help accelerate the procedure and will help get you through it quicker. If your symptoms start to make you feel sick to your stomach, particularly exhausted, or the mind fog becomes a deterrent, you can reach for activated charcoal (which you will take about an hour or so after your detoxification supplements, as to give them the opportunity to work without being absorbed by the charcoal and eliminated from your system unintentionally).

You can begin with one capsule and grow to 2 if your symptoms do not lessen. Although, we discover that one capsule is sufficient activated charcoal to bind with these toxins and biofilms so as to move them from your system. Also, a teaspoon of Bentonite Clay mixed with a little water and absorbed along with your detoxification protocol functions as well and in precisely the identical manner as activated charcoal.

Conclusion

The benefits of detox far outweigh the distress they bring and again, aren’t permanent and don’t generally last long. Some people will actually go through the process with no single physical indication that things are functioning as they should. If these tips do not help how you feel during a detox always ask your practitioner to examine the timing and dose of your protocol.
