It’s the season for sweet treats, heavy meals, and overeating. It’s the time of year where the men with the most rigorous eating habits break down and have a 3 or cookie. I helped myself to some nice cheat meal last week. I was outside with my fiancé in the Royal Palm Beach Commons Park for one of the monthly Food Truck Invasions.

I had helped myself to a huge part of barbecue brisket (fat and all) and was feeling quite happy. My fiance and her friend decided to split a wonderful desert in the French Crepe foodtruck. A ridiculous Nutella and marshmallow mixture that looked and smelled like type II diabetes. The funny thing about eating well the majority of the time, is you will feel like crap when you load up your body on sugar.

Now if you’re someone with a condition that’s dependent on your diet (celiac, diabetic, autoimmunity), then of course you will need to locate alternatives. However, if you’re otherwise healthy and dieting for weight or health purposes, then I say eat to your heart’s content. Here’s the thing about Christmas and Thanksgiving which nobody ever talks about. It’s just ONE day. Changing your diet for one day won’t kill your eating habits if you do not permit it.

In actuality, I find that it strengthens your good eating habits when you do it correctly. Why? Because when you are feeling like crap after gorging on biscuits, soda, alcohol, and sweets for a single day, you’re most likely going to feel pretty crummy mid way through, and surely through the majority of the following day. When you do things right, your body tells you when you are doing things wrong. The thing is that this plan does not work if you decide to let the whole holiday season de-rail your aims.

Şükran Günü

It puts people into the vacation mentality for eating. While Thanksgiving is partially responsible, it is the days that occur later that spiral out of control. It’s the leftover pecan pie. What’s so magical about January that says you will need to wait until then to start doing things right again? Nothing. There’s nothing special about January 2nd.

The planets are not aligned to make you weightless. The moon isn’t likely to change your hormone output. Say No to Left Overs – Christmas foods are often designed to have plenty of left overs. Everyone leaves with doggy bags of pecan pie and pot roasts. It can be quite a liberating feeling to say no to those leftovers. When it is not in your refrigerator, you have almost a 100% chance of not eating it the following day.

Yes, there are hungry children around the world that would like to consume your leftover pumpkin pie. You putting it through your digestive system does nothing for them, but it sabotages your metabolic health. Pass on the left overs, donate some money to Feeding America, and sleep better at night. Do a Challenge with Friends – Don’t wait until New Year’s to Begin a challenge. Get some friends, family members, or co-workers to perform a healthy eating challenge.

There’s no lack of powerful programs, so find one that fits right with you. Most of the time, the app is not what makes you losing weight, it is the dedication to some prescribed eating plan that delivers the results. If you are self-motivated, fantastic, do it by yourself, but there is really nothing else like using a team enter the trenches with you and holding you accountable. Don’t worry about feasting on Christmas. Take a moment and enjoy food on this 1 day. But do not let this one day put you back from weeks or months of advancement. There’s no such thing as a magical day for eating, but there is a whole lot of magic in revealing an indomitable will.
