How can it be that we can not appear to think that something nutritious and wholesome could in reality be tasty and fun? Ever since I began to eat healthful food I’ve found new tastes, new flavours and new favorites. I do it almost daily. When I stopped looking at meat as the primary ingredient of a meal I discovered a hundred fresh ways to prepare a fantastic meal.

Să vedem...

I didn’t exclude meat completely, only the types that contain saturated fat. I continued to eat chicken, fish and poultry. I eat vegetarian dishes at least three days each week, and the veg food is now my favorite food. Why? Because it tastes so good and the food is really easy to vary. I can not think of a life without it anymore. It would be a bad life. This food is a treasury and it’s given me strength and energy I didn’t have before.

The advantages are plenty. You may feel spry and lively again. You may lose weight. You will strengthen your immune system and stay well longer. You will reduce your blood pressure. I could go on. I am a notorious tea drinker, and I loved all sorts of black teas. The taste of green tea did not appeal to mepersonally, I found it bitter. But I discovered several sorts of green tea I have learned to enjoy and I now drink it daily. It’s really become “my cup of tea”.

Reduce the fat, especially the saturated fat, which can be mostly found in meat and dairy products. Exchange the margarine and butter with extra-virgin olive oil. Avoid oils with higher proportion of polyunsaturated and saturated fat. Use oils that contain mostly monounsaturated fat. Using the correct sorts of fat (with moderation) is more important than reducing the fat generally. Instead of milk you might choose to drink yogurt (containing live cultures) that is better for the gut. Eat fish at least twice per week.

If you do not like fish, be certain that to get enough of those omega-3 fatty acids. One means to do this is by eating flax seed. Eat a lot of fresh fruits, veggies, beans, cereals and whole grain. Make the vegetables the major portion of the meal. Rice, pasta, potatoes or couscous and legumes are priority number two. Eat poultry, fish or a small piece of beef with it if you prefer, but it isn’t necessary. You may feel better if you exclude the meat and save yourself the saturated fat.

Ce trebuie făcut?

Eat soy products regularly (e.g. tofu, tempeh, and miso, or vegetarian beefs made from soy beans). There have been talks about soy and its health risks, but the benefits seem to be higher than those supposed risks. Drink water with each meal and between meals. You can not get enough of water. Use fresh ginger (the root) and garlic in your cooking. Goes well with almost everything. Use dried and fresh herbs in most cooking. Reduce the coffee.

Preferably change to green tea. If you drink black tea, then replace it completely with green tea. Reduce the sugar. Don’t use artificial sweeteners. They’re not healthier. There’s absolutely not any evidence to suggest that using artificial sweeteners would help you drop weight. Pure sugar is OK (raw sugar is a bit better than white), just use it with moderation. Read package labels for information about additives and other additives. Take some vitamin and mineral supplement daily. Sweets should be consumed with moderation.

Only a few smallish sweets from the weekend. Dark chocolate is good (but with moderation due to the sugar). Nuts may be a substitute for candy (still with moderation). Alcohol should be used with moderation if at all. A glass of wine on Saturday evening does no damage if you’re not oversensitive. Choose ecologically or organically grown products whenever possible. Try a day of fasting from time to time to wash your system. Drink only fruit juices, water and green tea daily. This plan will result in a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle. It will make you shed weight without needing to be hungry.

Concluzie

Take 1 step at a time. A little change can make a huge difference. You’ll be rewarded if you’re determined to actually try. When you follow the advice above you won’t need much meat. Protein can be inserted through legumes, seeds and soy for example. If you exclude the dairy product or any of them, be certain that you get enough calcium through for example calcium fortified soy milk and orange juice, and through green vegetables. If you exclude meat entirely, make certain to get enough vitamin B12 from fortified soy milks or cereals or by taking a supplement. Needless to say, you can get that little special treat now and then. The point is to enjoy and have fun! If you feel like a captive you won’t like your new habits. But bear in mind, if special treats come too often, they’re not special treats .
