Gratitude is a lot more than a mere means to be grateful for all that you’ve received. Practice gratitude every day and it may lead you from negative thoughts and feelings to positive thoughts and feelings. It may bring light from darkness.

Gratitude

It is a mindful action where one succeeds to be aware and soak in everything that surrounds us in our own lives. It’s a time to embrace and appreciate oneself and love the life we have. To feel that the fruits of ones gratitude an individual has to be open to not only being thankful for the exact things repeatedly. We will need to have the ability to see beyond what is right in front of us. Granted, having food on the table or having a healthy family are matters to be very thankful for, but there are other facets of our life that need recognition.

Consider freshening up those gratitudes by being thankful for inviting friends, for living in a town that gives so much culture or to being grateful for having the ability to see, hear, and walk. It’s typical for many families that celebrate Thanksgiving day to profess what they’re grateful for as they’re faced with mouth-watering food. It may seem corny to some to say thanks in front of the others for what we have but when taken seriously it could be such a memorable and effective experience.

Take note

Thanksgiving is a superb place to begin to reflect on what one has in their life to be thankful for. If not then, here are a few other ways to get you started.

  • Make a game of it. Try to make it a sport to see new items, people and actions to be thankful for. Start with something small, including, someone holding the door for you or consider a strangers smile as something to be thankful for. Those people did not owe you anything and you felt great when they did these things, so be thankful for them giving you positive energy by their activities and be sure that you send that energy right back out.
  • Gratitude Ritual. Another way to begin is to program when you create your gratitudes. As an example, begin to practice gratitude daily once you begin your day. In the morning when you are looking at yourself in the mirror as you brush your teeth, once you’re making breakfast. You may even cultivate being thankful before going to bed.
  • Stick with it. There’ll be times when you can’t muster up the energy to feel as if you’re able to practice gratitude daily yet that’s when you’ll be needing it the most. Many find they’ve so much negative energy and events which they struggle with identifying items to be thankful for. You have the capability to recognize when this occurs and find that silver lining. Create the power to reflect on that silver lining and begin thinking about what’s good and positive in your life. Being thankful for being alive is a beginning.
  • Try a pause for gratitude. With this go-go-go lifestyle we have it’s necessary to press pause from time to time, have a step back, breathe and concentrate on the important things. Even if we feel hurt, angry, confused or have experienced someone being mean to us, taking note of the blessings we have in our own lives can re-center us and provide a different perspective on the best way best to manage what is facing us.
  • Create the distance. Have a spot in your home and/or at your place of work for gratitude. Put together, for example, images of loved ones, a trinket which means something to you, and a motivational saying that makes you feel great on a table or a place where you could visit and give thanks for the blessings you have. Maybe even a scented candle which reminds you of positive memories.
  • Express yourself. Simply telling your spouse, your friends a relative what you’re thankful for can reinforce your self-esteem. Telling them how thankful you are to have them in your life will reinforce theirs and strengthen your bond with them. Allow them to see how you look at them will help create closeness.
  • Plug into positivity. It’s almost impossible to prevent social media altogether in this day and age so why not use it. Many men and women share what they’re thankful for by posting images and expressing their gratitude. If you do the same you can return to your articles when you will need a reminder to be thankful.
  • Appreciate the Negativity. You may consider being thankful for the negative things that go on in our own lives. You read that right. Things go wrong, people are mean, life gets us worn down, it happens to the best of us. Recognizing someone who’s negative and ungrateful is something to be thankful for. Why? Because it’s a massive lesson on how not be and shows you how awful it seems like the way they are. Thank them for teaching you to become graceful, patient, humble and modest.

Final note

When you or someone is severely ill, be thankful for being powerful and being surrounded by loved ones that make you stronger. We, as people, have the option to choose how we respond and all of us falter here and there. Taking ownership for our actions is not simple but it retains darkness around. If we express our gratefulness, especially to other people, there’s absolutely not any doubt we will feel more happy, optimistic, increase our well-being and improve emotional healing. When we concentrate on our gratitude we begin to concentrate on what we have, not on what we do not and it puts things into perspective.

We start to appreciate the non-materialistic facets of our lives which are fulfilling and purposeful. Ungrateful folks focus on materialistic things which they think will make them happy and compare others . They have a record of what they believe they should accomplish so as to reach the maximum level of happiness. Gratitude promotes happiness and more positive emotions, enhanced mental health, sleeping better, and even using a stronger immune system. It takes time to cultivate the ability of being thankful by commitment and practice gratitude every day.
